As part of the experiential learning programme, students of Grades - 5 & 6 from Sriprakash Synergy, Tuni, visited the Meteorological Department.
The Meteorological Department plays a vital role in observing and monitoring weather conditions such as temperature, rainfall, atmospheric pressure, humidity and wind.
The data collected helps in weather forecasting and issuing timely warnings, supporting agriculture, transportation and disaster management.
The students were warmly guided by Mr. Ch. Apparao, Meteorologist- A , who introduced them to various meteorological instruments and explained their practical uses. They observed the Thermograph, an instrument that continuously records changes in temperature over time, helping meteorologists study temperature patterns.
The Self-Recording Rain Gauge automatically measures and records the amount and duration of rainfall, providing accurate rainfall data for weather analysis and forecasting.
They also observed instruments used to measure atmospheric pressure, an important factor in predicting changes in weather.
The students learned how these observations are systematically collected and analysed to prepare weather forecasts.
The visit helped students connect classroom learning with real-world applications and deepened their understanding of weather and climate.
It was an enriching and informative experience, giving students valuable practical knowledge.
